When should I fertilize house plants?
What soil EC (nutrient) readings mean, how often to feed, and the signs of over-fertilizing.
What EC tells you
Electrical conductivity (EC) is a proxy for dissolved nutrients in the soil. Low EC means the plant has used up its food; very high EC means salts are building up.
A simple schedule
Feed at half strength every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer, and pause in winter. Let the readings, not the calendar, have the last word.
Over-fertilizing signs
Crispy brown leaf tips, a white crust on the soil, and a high EC reading. Flush the pot with plain water and skip the next feeding.
Let the plant tell you
The Plant To Earn Core measures light, moisture, nutrients and soil temperature, and its sealed reservoir waters while you're away.
